Best Tools Used in Mining

One needs a wide variety of tools if you have the task of mining to be done. A mining process can be done above as well as below the ground. In other words, there are a variety of tools available for surface mining and underground mining.

A brief description of some of the mining tools which are used on-site is as given.

Sinker Drills – For Drilling of Quarries

Sinker drills are also known as rock drills. Hence, they stand as the main equipment to deal with rocks and stone crushing units. These drills are now often used for quarry and dimension quarry. They are used in shaft sinking and belong to the jackhammer type.

Drilling and working with the rocks is quite tactful since the substrate is very hard. A reliable sinker drill has the quality of utmost tensile strength along with lubrication and cooling to resist the stress produced by friction.

RMT provides a very compatible range of drills including Atlas Copco, Holman, and Chicago Pneumatic. These drills consume spare parts at a very less rate and work in a very user- friendly manner. They are used for heavy-duty work and can also be applicable at low air pressure. The weight spectrum of sinker drills lies in between 10kg (22 lb) to 27.5kg (59 lb). Wet and dry version drills are available in models RMT 658, CP 32A, RMT 303 SD.

Jackleg Drills – For Holes Drilling

The Jackleg drill is known to be a revolution maker in the drilling and mining industry since the 1940’s. It is still considered as one of the best machineries for rock drilling. These rock drills have their attachment to the telescopic legs, making them lightweight enough to be operated with a single operator. It can be operated in several directions requiring angles. They are very spectacular to drill with and require minimum spare parts consumption.

The pusherleg drill has the special feature to blow away the disintegrated small dust particles and pebbles of rocks while drilling into the hole. This limits the damage done onto the drill itself. Even though it is lightweight and simple to operate, it is sturdy and strong to deal with the drilling challenges. The utilization of air is also low. These drills provide cost-effectiveness with high efficiency of work.

Simba Junior – For Conventional Drilling

Simba junior drills are specifically designed keeping the unpredictable geography of underground in mind. They can be rotated at 360° angle for the perfect allowance as per the requirement. Hence, it is known as “ring drilling”. It is the best drill utilised for tunnelling, drifting, Cable bolting holes, and long-hole drilling. In many expressions, it is also called as “long hole drilling”.

It is very easy to dismantle this drill and also portable to a different location as per the requirement.

RMT provides Simba junior in three different versions i.e. Standard, Mini and Lateral.

For parallel drilling, lateral movement version drill is used. It functions with the help of “manual feed screw” which is 54 mm long and it travels the feed beam in the upward direction up to 500 mm from the centre.

On the contrary, Mini version is used for small mines and has 2.4 meter radius.

DTH Hammer – For Mining & Quarry

A DTH (down the hole drill) hammer is a mini version of a jackhammer attached to the bottom of the drill string. This hammer works by constantly drilling the rocks with extensive force and speed while blowing the air to clear the dust and rock particles out. Hard rock can be efficiently and quickly drilled by a DTH hammer. These hammers are perfectly capable to drill even under low air pressure.

RMT ensures the best quality approved manufacturing of DTH hammers which are made from the combination of premium quality steel and carbide. Because of our updated technology, DTH hammers are efficient as they cause high penetration on low fuel utilisation. Whether it is water drilling, mining or construction industry, these hammers apply to its best usage. Different face styles of DTH bits are available in concave, convex and flat styles, and it ranges from 3” to 18” diameter. The DTH hammers commonly range from 2.5 to 12 inches of size.

Jackleg – Tools for Rock Drilling

Also known as pusherlegs, these tools are of high value while drilling the rock. Its main characteristic is to be lightweight but strong in functionality. Earlier, aluminium was used to make these jacklegs but it used to get deteriorated due to tough working requirements while drilling the rocks in underground mines. Hence, to keep up with the new age demand of stability, we use a special alloy to manufacture jacklegs, which is used to make spacecraft materials and body. This ensures the tensile strength and lightweight of the jackleg.

Loaders – For Rock & Dust Collection

Loaders are one of the most essential machines in mining. They are used for collecting the drilled rocks and dust which should be cleared out of the way. Hence, they are always needed round the clock. Loaders set the pace for the rest of the mining tools to work ahead. While being efficient towards the loading and removing of the materials, it is important for them to be versatile with strength, force, ground stability and body structure.

RMT offers first-class loaders to be the pacemaker of a mining project. We ensure that these loaders pick up a large amount of materials in minimum loading time.
